North Korean Military Choir Did Not Perform Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’, Viral Video Is Edited

A video has gone viral on social media, purportedly showing the North Korean military choir covering British band Queen’s classic, “I want to break free”, with the country’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un in attendance.  Newschecker found the video to be a digitally altered clip, combining visuals from various joint performances of a North Korean girl band and the state military choir, along with the audio from an unrelated event. ‘Hindutva Goons’ Assaulting ‘Dalit Girl’ In UP? No, Video From MP Viral With False Claims

A disturbing video showing a group of men dragging a woman by her hair, brutally kicking and assaulting her with sticks, while she screams and cries surrounded by onlookers is going viral on social media platforms. Those who shared the video claimed that it shows  “Hindutva goons” attacking a “Dalit girl in UP” for bathing in the river and “spoiling its sanctity.” Newschecker found the claim to be false. Clipped Video Of TR Baalu’s Speech On ‘Demolishing 100-Year-Old Temples’ Shared Out Of Context

Several social media users, including verified Twitter handles, are sharing a video, where Tamil Nadu’s DMK MP TR Baalu is addressing a political rally, purportedly boasting that he has demolished 100-year-old temples. Newschecker found that an edited video of DMK leader TR Baalu’s speech on how religious structures were razed for the government’s developmental projects has been shared out of context on social media. Old, Unrelated Images Shared As Aftermath Of Recent Blast In Peshawar

At least 88 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at a mosque in Pakistan’s Peshawar on Monday. Following this, social media platforms were flooded with unsolicited visuals, purportedly the site of the explosion and its aftermath. Newschecker investigated a series of images that are being shared in the context of the recent blast in Peshawar on social media and found at least four of them to be old and unrelated to the attack. Old Image Of Stampede Shared Claiming To Show Victims Of Recent Shooting Incident In Jerusalem

A gunman opened fire outside a synagogue in Jerusalem last week killing at least seven people, and wounding three others. Soon after, condolences and tributes for the deceased started to pour in on social media platforms, along with unsolicited images claiming to show the shooting incident. Several users shared an image claiming to show the victims of the recent Jerusalem attack. Newschecker found the claim to be untrue.  Read more here.
